The Annual Financial Report (AFR) is a report of expenditures made and revenues received for the School Year beginning July 1st and ending June 30th of the following year. The report is put together by our Business Department and approved by the Governing Board. We are very excited to share an update with the community regarding our partnership with WestEd.
The goal for DUSD and WestEd is to work collaboratively to ensure student academic achievement and teacher success.
During their first official visit to DUSD on Tuesday, October 22, WestEd consultants (Mr. Springston, Mr. Tijerina, and Ms. Cody) met with the District School Leadership Team (DSLT). WestEd representatives discussed the fundamentals of successful school improvement.
The DSLT is comprised of certified staff, classified staff, district administrators, parents, and members of the business community. The DSLT will focus and be responsible for five different areas of school improvement. Members of the team were asked to choose the focus area they were most interested in. The following are the five areas the District will work on this year:
- Rollout of the College and Career Readiness Standards - team members are: B. Lopez, C. Moen, H. Jones, J. Brooks, S. Kramer, A. Manjarres
- Structural Needs - team members are: S. Rogers, C. Soto, E. Proano, M. Ortega, K. Soto, B. Hernandez
- Instructional Needs - team members are: A. Samaniego, D. Morales, P. Messner, M. Gonzalez, D. Cox, D. Logan, J. Lusby
- Equitable Opportunities - team members are: C. Leon, R. LaMadrid, B. Garvey, A. Chavez, A. Urquijo, A. Parra
- Parental Involvement - team members are: C. Ortega, F. Morales, Y. Arias, I. Aguilar, T. Vera, P. Lopez, E. Meechan
WestEd will also be working with District Administration, Principal's, Instructional Coaches, and Teachers on a monthly basis.

- Charlotte Danielson Evaluation Protocol Training
- Develop District and departments Vision Statements
- Principal Professional Learning Communities
- Data Work and Instructional Progress
- Math Curriculum Work
- Review the Wallace foundation study on leadership impact on student achievement
Following are the dates WestEd will be at DUSD: November 12-15; January 6-9; February 10-13; March 31-April 3; and May 5-8.

The second annual Best High School Football Rivalry competition is underway, and this time, there is even more competition. Please help us by voting! There is no voting limit!
USA TODAY High School Sports selected five high school football rivalries in each state and Washington, D.C. This year's best rivalry competition will end Dec. 18 after three rounds of voting. The 51 state winners - each state plus D.C. - advance to one of eight regionals. The winners of the eight regions, along with two wild cards, move onto a final round of 10.
The winner receives $5,000 to be split evenly between the two schools, with other prizes going to all of the national finalists.
Please be advised that the Douglas Unified School District is NOW ACCEPTING Personal Checks as a method of payment for any of our services. You can continue paying with cash, money orders, checks or through our new and convenient online payment method when paying for lunch balance.
Lunch Price Increase for 2013-2014 School Year
Due to Federal mandate, lunch prices have increased for all grade levels. The new prices are $2.10 for Elementary and Middle Schools and $2.25 for High School.
Moodle Information for Teachers
Attention Teachers: Starting August 2013 we are going to use Moodle 2.0. If you use Moodle, please send an email to Sandra Garcia at email@example.com
to create a class for you in Moodle 2.0. Please do not upload new items to the old Moodle because the server is running out of space. Thank you!
Make a difference in your community!
Contribute to the Douglas Unified School District Extracurricular Activities fund and claim a credit of up to $200 on your Arizona Income taxes ($400 for married filing jointly). You don’t have to have a school age child enrolled, or even be a parent to donate and claim a tax credit.
A tax credit is a dollar for dollar reduction in the amount of money you will pay the State of Arizona tax you owe. If the credit is more than the amount of taxes you owe, the credit can be carried forward for up to five years. To receive a credit for this calendar year, your donation must be postmarked by December 31, 2013.
Print and fill out the "2013 Tax Credit Donation-Payroll Authorization Form
" located on our Home page under the "Staff" section and submit it to our HR dept. for processing.
